Caribbean Costa Rica #2 - Parque Nacional Tortuguero

The only access into & about this national park is on natural and man-made 'canals'. We went one day on a tour boat and a second trip up a narrower river on kayaks.  Our guides were excellent, spotting and pointing out the wildlife, and providing 'Kodak Moments' galore! We saw a plethora of critters including the 3 species of monkeys in the area: spider, white-faced capuchin, and howler.  There was also an amazing assortment of birds (this is a popular birders' destination).

We returned from the kayak excursion at dusk and were greeted by a tiger heron on the dock -- LOVELY!
