Caribbean Costa Rica #10: Congo Bongo Guest Houses

We found the most delightful place for the last days in Costa Rica: the Congo Bongo, just outside Manzanillo, which is the southern-most village on the Caribbean Coast.  We expected it to be special, but it far outdistanced our expectations.

We had a fabulous house.  The bedroom/bath were the only enclosed rooms, the rest of the living space was covered porch.  Everything was designed to titillate the senses, and it was all comfortable.

We had our private sloth family, right outside.  And there were also howler & spider monkeys.

The Dutch owner built an elevated walkway made of old tires out to the beach so we didn't need our rubber boots to slog through the jungle!  And the beach itself was spectacular, miles & miles long.  There were storms up north while we were there so unfortunately, the waters were not the crystal clear we'd like for snorkeling.  We had a great outdoor shower for washing off the sand & salt water after visiting the beach/ocean.

Throughout the property were whimsical touches, as well as some very unusual wild flowers.
